Dear Ruby,
Hey sweetheart! I hope summer break is going well for you. It is supposed to get really hot down here this weekend, 95 on Sunday. Normally, I love the heat, but we don’t have air conditioning here. Only a 10″ fan to try and stay cool… Yikes! It is ok though; I should be somewhere with AC soon.
Today I was watching “Ask This Old House”, one of the host’s niece was on there with her girl scout troop. They were about a year older than you when I got arrested. They were helping him build some flower beds and planting stuff, it reminded me of you helping grandpa Frank in the garden. It also made me think about all the time I’ve missed with you. Needless to say, I cried, it was an ugly cry too lol. Luckily my roommate was in class. I felt sad for the rest of the day. Then I went to the gym and worked out, that helped me feel better.
I prayed about it and cried out to God, I just needed to tell Him that even though I stay positive in my outlook and am thankful for what blessings I have, I still really want to be past this season of my life. How I long to be free and to get to be in your life. It is ok to come to Him to let Him know you’re struggling. I know He works good through all things for those who believe in Him so I will be ok I just miss being your dad.
Remember, God made you special and He loves you very much!
