Ruby,
Hey Pie! I hope you’re doing well and I hope you have some fun plans for Easter. Maybe one day we can go to an Easter service at church together. I pray that until then maybe your mom can start taking you. I know she grew up attending church and at one point she tried to get us to go together.
I don’t have a set time laid out to write or a deadline on these letters; just wait until I feel I have something to share with you. I figure this way the content is good and you’ll get something from these letters. I read something in my daily devotional called “Waling with God” by Dr. David Jeremiah today. I’ll paraphrase the contents and add my own input to it.
I’m sure you’ve heard the term “carbon footprint,” it is the amount of carbon emissions in the form of greenhouse gasses that something creates, either in its use or in the making of it. Everything has a “carbon footprint.” People, animals, cars, toys, tv’s, a city, everything! The larger the footprint, the worse for the environment.
As Christians, we also have a “Spiritual Footprint.” It measures all we are doing to change the “Spiritual climate” of our world. While we should strive to have a smaller “carbon footprint,” we should work towards a larger “spiritual footprint.” Sharing God’s word and his love to others is a great way to do that. Just think if you tell 20 people about Jesus and his love for them, then maybe 5 of those people share Jesus with 20 people each, and 5 of them do the same, ad infinitum… How large has your spiritual footprint become? It can really make a difference in a lot of lives.
Since letting God back in my life and accepting Jesus as my savior, I have been sharing his love to everyone that is willing to listen, and it helps a lot of the guys in here. Some may not stay with it and that is ok, God works on his own time. But, some really have had positive changes in their lives from opening their hearts to Jesus’ teachings. I know that talking a part in helping others find Christ and betting themselves through sharing the gift of recovery has made me a happy person, much happier than you would expect of someone who is in jail.
Remember this Easter that Jesus gave his life to wash away our sins for good. Then, He rose from his tomb, told all his people to share His word, and then ascended to Heaven. Now, our path to eternal life is paved for us if we accept Jesus as our salvation.
Love,
Daddy
